To the 7th grade teachers: about me...
1. What piece of work and learning are you most proud of? Explain.
I am most proud of the comic I drew about my life in Storytelling in Art. I took my time, and tried my hardest to make it neat, perfect, and the best I could possibly do. I had the chance to show my skills in drawing and I enjoyed it.
2. What were your greatest challenges? Explain.
Science was pretty hard for me in first trimester; it was difficult for me to understand, and my parents, who are chemical engineers, were asking me why I got a B, but I asked some of my friends to help explain things. I improved in second trimester, and I got an A+. I also found it a little hard to get things done and handed in on time.
3. Reflecting on your growth this year, what did you learn about yourself as a learner?
I'm a visual learner. I love art, and I visualize what I'm going to do or how I'm going to get something done. I also learned NOT to leave things to the last minute!!! Because you know that you could've done better and you REGRET it...regret it...
a) BEHAVIOR
Satisfactory...I guess. Sometimes I talk at the wrong time (or something), but I can be quiet too. It depends on my mood.
b)PARTICIPATION
I think I actively participate in class. I mean, I'm not shy or too quiet. I know how to participate; I can talk and listen. And I don't really mind being in a group with a mix of gender, unless my group members are REALLY annoying. But when I'm lazy, I leave other people to talk. Sometimes I'm not that confident in sharing my opinions, like last year in 5th grade, but I think I am more confident now.
c)ORGANIZATION
My organiztion is...satisfactory. I sometimes forget to print, or bring my work to school, and it's REALLY frustrating!!! Some people may call me a perfectionist, and I might be, but I don't see how that's really a bad thing...But I'm not as org
d)EFFORT
In between "satisfactory" and "above and beyond." I sometimes leave things to last minute, and get it done at lunch or something. However, I'm sometimes a perfectionist (Well usually...well...yeah). I actually care, unlike some people, when I spell a word wrong.
5. Based upon your reflections, write two personal learning goals for Grade 7 next year.
Goal 1 - In Grade 7, I plan to participate in the Middle School Talent Show or Student IDull. I want to show my talent in singing, and after watching this year's Student IDull singers, I'm confident I'll be able to get in.
Goal 2 - In Grade 7, I plan to get assignments handed in on time ALL the time. I'm not that satisfied with my grades, so I also plan to get my grades higher because I know I can do even better.
6.Is there any more information about yourself that you would like the teachers to know?
No. Maybe. Yeah...I like being alone sometimes. Like when I have to get things done. And then, when I AM trying to get something finished, when people interrupt me...I get annoyed. And when I'm annoyed, I'm in a bad mood. AND THEN when I'm in a bad mood, when everyone has used every, little, last bit of my patience...I EXPLODE!!! :)

WE can save the Earth...
People around the world are doing everything they can to save our planet Earth. There are the three R's (Reduce, Reuse & Recycle), Earth Hour, Earth Day, and many other things too. Some people may think, "How can I make a difference when I am just one person?" But, if everyone did at least something small for the environment, all the little things we do eventually build up and can make a HUGE difference. So, maybe if we had Earth Hour not once, but more often like once a month or something, the energy we have saved during that time would make a difference too.
Another way to save our Earth is to not use so much transportation. Cars, buses, motorcycles, boats, airplanes and many other vehicles release harmful pollutants that wear down the ozone layer. You can carpool. Ride public transportation. Ride your bicycle, walk, or jog. That way you're exercising! You should also turn things off when you are leaving to room or when they're not in use. When you're leaving the room, turn off the lights and or the airconditioner. Turn off the computer/computer charger when you're not using them.
Even though these are small things (that are very easy to do, for your information), EVERY person's participation is vital in order for us to save the Earth!

Um...This is just to answer those questions on the comments...
Yeah...I want Twilight on DVD and it came out here too...I think I'll buy it this weekend. No, we don't have lacrosse at our school, before you mentioned it, I never knew what it was, or if that sport even existed! I don't think it depends on the movie theater, but the movie itself. They show Malaysian and Chinese movies and maybe some Indian movies too and the movies in English sometimes have subtitles that are in Malaysian or Chinese...but know that I think of it, I never really payed much attention to that...and I sometimes find the subtitles annoying. Speaking of languages, I WISH I KNEW HOW TO SPEAK JAPANESE! (Or WAS Japanese...) Lots of anime that I like are sometimes in English, sometimes in Japanese, so I find it annoying when the subtitles aren't proper English, or if there's no subtitles at all! Uh...I can't really decide on who's my favorite character in Twilight...and I never gave much thought in that either. I'm probably thinking Bella or Edward...I haven't read "The Last Apprentice" or "The Golden Compass", I rarely find any books interesting. But I didn't find "Twilight" and "Because of Winn-Dixie" all that boring. I don't think I've ever felt an earthquake...maybe when I was still really young back in the Philippines.

More on Malaysia Week
I didn't really describe MY Malaysia Week, and I barely scratched the surface. For Malaysia Week I went to Pulau Redang, which translates as Redang Island. I'm assuming that my Malaysia Week was easier than some (or most...) of the other sites...it was almost like a vacation! We had rooms, or "chalets" to sleep in, unlike others who had to sleep in tents or a big hall-like room with sleeping bags. We also had a lot of free time which was good, I guess...? Anyway, a typical day in Redang was; 1. Wake up at around 7:30am to eat breakfast 2. Change into our swimsuits and go snorkeling for about an hour 3. Eat lunch and have a second snorkeling session 4. Take a nice, COLD shower (And yes, I do like COLD showers) or go hang out at the beach some more 5. At around 7:30pm we meet and write in our journals (Because we have to!!!) then have dinner at about 8:00pm. The people I shared a room with was Selena and Ayla, and overall it was a really great experience!

Malaysia Week, spring break, and...other stuff too...
First of all, my name is ALTHEA...
2. The books I read are in English, I can't speak, read or write Bahasa Melayu (the Malaysian language).
3. Well, they do sell candy like Milky Way, Twix, Skittles, Buenos at local groceries. But some other groceries have American products like Ben & Jerry's, Tootsie Rolls and Hersheys. They also sell Nerds ( You've got to love NERDS!!) sometimes when it's Christmas or Halloween.
4. I finished reading all of the series...about one week before the Twilight movie came out in Malaysia. Have you read "Midnight Sun"? It's an incomplete draft of the 5th book that was leaked on the internet, but I got it from a site (http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/midnightsun.html) where she herself posted it. Midnight Sun is practically the same as the first...but in Edward's perspective. Click here to read MIDNIGHT SUN!
Malaysia Week:
Malaysia Week is where we, a mix of 6th, 7th and 8th graders and teachers (that we call "site leaders"), go to different places to enjoy the beauty of Malaysia, interact and make new friends, and also improve our skills in the School-wide Learning Results (Otherwise known as the "SLR's"; Collaborate Constructively, Communicate effectively, Reason Critically, Think Creatively, Learn Enthusiastically and Live Ethically).
I am also going to the Perhentian Islands (Pulau Perhentian in Bahasa Melayu) for the spring break. The name "perhentian" means "stopping point" in Malay, referring to their longstanding role as a waypoint for traders between Bangkok and Malaysia.

To Ms.Adelman's students: About Me...
Hi. (awkward...!) So...Hi, my name is Althea. (Ugh. That sounds so lame.) My likes and dislikes? Oh, well, I like a lot of things but mostly reading the Twilight Saga, manga comics, I also enjoy drawing, more in general, art, and I don't dislike anything in particular. I am currently living in Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia. If you didn't know already, Malaysia is a muslim country. I'm originally (like flesh and blood) from the Philippines. My home country is made up of 7,107 islands. There are many languages but the most common would be Tagalog. Tagalog is my first language, and English is my second language, but I can speak, read and write much better in English.
